Who We Are
We are a group of ordinary people, drawn from various walks of life,
and of different ages and cultures. What unites us is our love for
God, and our desire to serve Him. Therefore, we aim to meet together
regularly to worship God, to be strengthened in our Christian faith
and to share friendship and fellowship with each other.
We have around 36 full members, and a congregation of approximately
60 to 80 people.
What do We Believe
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He died
to save us from our sins, and lead us back to fellowship with God.
Following His resurrection, He went to live with God the Father in
Heaven. We believe in the Holy Spirit whom he sent to us to act as
our teacher and guide. We also believe in the reliability and
authority of the Bible, which is the inspired Word of God, upon
which all of the teaching in this church is firmly based. In
remembrance of what Christ has done for us, we celebrate Communion,
and in obedience to what the Bible teaches, we practice believers’
baptism. We also hold services of thanksgiving and dedication to
praise God for the gift of children.
Individually, we know that we are not perfect, and we have a tendency
to go our own way instead of following God’s plan, so we need God’s
forgiveness to help change. We know that Jesus Christ makes this
possible, and together we are learning to work this out in the
circumstances and pressures of everyday life.
None of us would claim to have all the answers to life, but we know
that Jesus Christ does. What He offers to us all is forgiveness,
love, understanding, compassion, guidance and the promise of His
everlasting presence with us.
The Gospel
The Oxford Dictionary defines the word "Gospel" as glad tidings preached by
Christ. A record of Christ's life in the first four books of the New Testament.
Thing one may safely believe.
1 Corinthians chapter 15 : verse 3 says "Christ died for our sins according to
the scriptures".
Sins are the breaking of God's Law and God's Laws are set out in the 10 Commandments
in the Old Testament Exodus 20 : 2-17. Jesus said "You shall love the Lord your
God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind" and "You shall love
your neighbour as yourself". Matthew 22 : 37-39.
The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God". Romans 3 : 23.
The Bible says "The wages of sin is death" Romans 6 : 23. "God is a just judge and God
is angry with the wicked every day". Psalm 7 : 11. The day will come when God shall judge
everyone. Just as there is a Heaven, there is also a Hell, and we all deserve to spend eternity
there.
Can we escape this fate? There is one truth - we cannot save ourselves - that is impossible.
God can save us through His Son Jesus Christ. "The wages of sin is death" but "The gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". Romans 6 : 23.
From the beginning of time when Adam and Eve first sinned and throughout the Old Testament it was
foretold that Christ's birth and death would happen.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He came to this earth 2000 years ago. Was born of a virgin, lived as a
man, lived a perfect, sinless life, despite facing temptations, and was crucified unjustly. On the third day
He rose from the dead, was seen by many and then ascended into Heaven to be at the right hand of God.
This was God's ultimate plan from the beginning of time to save people from their sins.
What must we do to be saved? Turn away from your sins. Truly repent of them and trust in the Lord Jesus'
death and resurrection to save you. This requires us to come humbly to God in prayer, and seek his forgiveness.
Have no doubt that God is willing to save those who come to Him in such a spirit.
